Spirtual Services

Read below for details on Jumu’ah Prayer at Stanford, our prayer room, halal eating, Eid and Ramadan Services, and other mosques in the area.

JUMMAH

Jummah prayers are offered every Friday at CIRCLE Sanctuary, which is on the 3rd floor of Old Union. During the academic year there is a Jummah at 1:30pm and at 3:00pm. During the summer quarter and winter break there will be only one jummah at 1:30pm. Last minute changes to jummah location will be communicated via our announce mailing list.

DUA KUMAYL

MSU offers Dua Kumayl service every Thursday at 6:30 PM. We start with the Dua followed by Tafsir.

Location: Nitery Building (Markaz 2nd Floor)

PRAYER ROOM

The MSU is privileged to have a prayer room on campus. The prayer room, commonly referred to as the musallah, is on the third floor of Old Union. If you need the code for the musallah, please fill out this form. The prayer room’s hours follow that of Old Union’s (currently Mon-Sun 8am-12am). Please be respectful of the space, and make sure to close the door behind you!

WELLNESS ROOM

In addition to the Musallah in Old Union, Stanford has granted us access to the shared Wellness Room in Packard, Room 265. The room has a sink and prayer mats.

To get the code for the Wellness Room, please fill out the following form.

HALAL DINING

Here are the halal eating options on campus:

  • ALL chicken in ALL dining halls is Zabiha Halal (unless specified otherwise). Beef in dining halls must specify halal or else it is not halal.
  • The Axe and Palm at Old Union has halal beef, chicken, and lamb by request

Quran Buddies

Held every Sunday on the 3rd Floor of Old Union (Sanctuary Room) from 7:30pm-9pm starting again 10/1/23.

EID AND RAMADAN

The MSU organizes iftar dinners with Taraweeh prayers every night during Ramadan. The MSU also tries to organize Eid prayers for all Eid’s that occur during the academic year.

LOCAL MOSQUES

Closest: If you’re out for dinner or at the Farmer’s Market on California Avenue and need to pray, many do not know about a tiny Sufi masjid next to Med Wraps called Jamil Islamic Center (427 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94306). To get in, just take the tiny green door and go up the stairs. There is a wudhu area and separate places for men and women to pray.
